First thing we do is to get the logic board mounted on the phone. Then buckle the display assembly and power on. The phone turns on with normal display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet, with the phone running for 3 minutes, the screen suddenly dims. And a high temperature warning screen appears. The phone then goes with black screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.rewa.tech\/image\/32ed5c72-06e8-4a5b-ad6c-3e07c94a6632-iphone-6s-overheating-fix.jpg\" alt=\"We got one malfunctioned board from a client. Connect the logic board with DC Power Supply and power on. Current reading on the ammeter is abnormal and the phone keeps restarting.\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Pre-judgment: abnormal boot current causes the logic board burning issue which results in high temperature warning screen on the phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Diagnosis Process:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove the display assembly and take out the logic board. Touch the logic board with the spare hand. A sensation of burning can be experienced on area from the power chip to WiFi module. So we can confirm the possible fault area now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.rewa.tech\/image\/30b50d24-5aa5-45aa-9423-ac298cb20daa-iphone-6s-overheating-fix-3.jpg\" alt=\"Remove the display assembly and take out the logic board. Touch the logic board with the spare hand. A sensation of burning can be experienced on area from the power chip to WiFi module. So we can confirm the possible fault area now.\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Since some components are located under shielding cover, we need to remove the shielding cover with Hot Air Gun first. Then\u00a0we need to confirm the specific fault position with \u2018rosin detecting\u2019. Use Soldering Iron to smoke rosin on components of the burning area. Traditional repairing method is to replace the WiFi module and detach the NAND flash chip from the logic board. Then have the WiFi unbound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.rewa.tech\/image\/38f9a1bb-150d-4053-9e00-c2fbdfa720d5-iphone-6s-overheating-fix-6.jpg\" alt=\"Burning issue of components inside the WiFi module can be related to capacitors inside the WiFi module or chips inside the WiFi module. \" title=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on repairing experience, two capacitors are located right under the rosin melted position. The fault was caused by the two capacitors. We will adopt a new repair solution today. Confirm the rosin melted position on surface of the WiFi module at first. Then scrape off the specific surface and heat with Hot Air Gun at 330\u2103 for 5s.&nbsp;Pry up the capacitors with sculpture knife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.rewa.tech\/image\/ae32f18a-751b-4d4c-813e-58b5caa2ff69-iphone-6s-overheating-fix-7.jpg\" alt=\"Confirm the rosin melted position on surface of the WiFi module at first. Then scrape off the specific surface and heat with Hot Air Gun at 330\u2103 for 5s. Connect the logic board with DC Power Supply to power on. Current reading on the ammeter is normal this time and the phone stops restarting.
