iPhone 8/8P/X Back Glass Refurbishing – Efficient or Cost-effective

iPhone 8/8P/X back glass is fragile and difficult to repair because it is connected to the housing with welds and glue. Warning: Safety glasses and Anti-cutting Gloves are necessary for non-professionals.

We take this broken back glass iPhone 8 for example. First, we need to run the function test. The touch functionality, 3D Touch, photo-taking etc. are normal. Next put the phone face-down on the Separator. Set the temperature of the Separator to normal room temperature and press power button to extract air. Then heat the broken area with Hot Air Gun at 240℃. Meantime, separate the back glass from the midframe with Sculpture Knife.

Once done, remove broken glass on the operating area with a brush, and remove residual glue on the midframe thoroughly. Also, we can see that with the rear camera holder ring, the new back glass fails to match with the midframe. So here we have to adopt a new solution. Stick High-Temperature Protective Tape on areas around the rear camera, then polish the rear camera holder ring with the grinding tool.

When it was done, remove the rear camera holder ring with Pince à découper, get a new back glass in position. Now, apply some specialized back glass glue to the midframe and get a new back glass in position. Laminate it with proper force. Then get a new rear camera holder ring.

Polish the inside diameter with the grinding tool, once done, apply some specialized glue around the rear camera. Get the rear camera holder ring in position and laminate it tightly with proper force.

Tips: be careful not to scratch or damage the rear camera when operating.

At last, check the back glass and find it has been laminated perfectly. Now, we can turn on the phone and test. The touch functionality, 3D Touch, photo-taking etc. are still normal.
