Based on repair experience, in this article, we would like to share the common fault components for iPhone 7.

2. Audio CODEC IC

Part Number: 338S00105 (U3101)

Model: For iPhone 7/7 Plus

This back side of the chip is the SIM connector, so might be the board design problem, which may easy to cause the Audio CODEC IC poor soldering or pads missing.

The most common repair method for iPhone Audio issues is to remove the Audio CODEC IC and jump wire to fix. See as below, Pin F12 and C12 are easy to get pad missing or poor soldering.

2. USB IC

Part Number: 610A3B (U4001)

Model: For iPhone 7/7 Plus

In the charging circuit, USB IC plays the role of doorkeeper to monitor the voltage introduced.

If the input voltage is too high, USB IC will be “killed” first.

3. Charging IC

Part Number: SN2400AB0 (U2101)

Model: For iPhone 7/7 Plus

Nickname for this chip: Tigris

For the charging issue, if after replacing the USB IC the issue is still unresolved. Then most of the time it’s caused by the charging IC, we can replace a new charging IC to have a try.

4. SPK/ Earpiece/ Vibrator Amplifier IC

Part Number: CS35L26 338S00220 (U3301/U3402/U3502)

Model: For iPhone 7/7 Plus

(The vibrator AMP IC, SPK AMP IC, and Earpiece AMP IC are compatible)

5. Backlight IC

Part Number: LM3539A1 (U3701 for IP7)

Model: For iPhone 6S/6S Plus/7/7 Plus/8/ 8 Plus

For no backlight issue, for half bright, half dim issue. There’s a chance the issue is caused by the damage of the backlight IC as marked in the above picture. Can try to replace the chip with a new one directly.

6. Display And Touch Power IC

Part Number: TPS65730A0PYFF (U3703 For IP 7/7P)

Model: For iPhone 5C/5S/6/6P/6S/6SP/7/7P/8/8P/XR

Nickname for this chip: Chestnut

The chip is mainly responsible for providing powers for the display and the touch circuit. See details as the below block diagram.

If there’s an issue with totally no touch or no display.

First, we can measure the diode value on the display and touch connector J4502, to see whether each pin diode value of the connector is OK or not?

If all diode values are OK, then we can try to replace the U3703 with a new one.

7. Wi-Fi Module

Part Number: LBEE5W11GJ 339S00199 (WLAN_RF)

Model: For iPhone 7/7 Plus

For no Wi-Fi issue, like the Wi-Fi button blackout, there’s a high chance it’s caused by the Wi-Fi chip get damaged. We can try to replace the Wi-Fi chip directly to have a try.

(Tip: After replacing the Wi-Fi chip, we will need to use some programmer like iRepair P10 DFU BOX

to unbind the connection between the Wi-Fi module and NAND Flash chip)

8. PMU (Power Management Unit)

Part Number: D2333A1 338S00225 (U1801)

Model: For iPhone 7/7 Plus

As the main chip to provide powers. PMU also with a high chance to get damaged.

But luckily, not like the CPU or baseband CPU, PMU is not encrypted, so when the PMU gets damaged, we can replace it with a new one.

9. Baseband PMU

Intel Version Part Number: PMB6826 (BBPMU_RF)

Qualcomm Version Part Number: PMD9645 (BBPMU_RF)

Model: For iPhone 7/7 Plus

Tips when repair

• Pay attention to the version of the chip
• Pay attention to the protection of components around it, and ensure your hands-on work is good enough. So that not cause damage to the PCB and Baseband CPU at the backside.
