iPhone 7 was launched in September, 2016. By now, it’s been over 5 years already, and by thousands of repair cases we summaried iPhone 7 common issues repair experience for your reference.

Based on the repair experience, let’s share some iPhone 7 common issues.
1. Baseband
For the Baseband issues like no service, no IMEI, etc.
First, we should check the small capacitors around Baseband PMU to check if there is any short.
If without capacitor short issue, then reball the Baseband PMU or replace it with a new one.
If remove the baseband PMU and test, still with short on the Baseband circuit. Then there’s a high chance it’s caused by the Baseband CPU damage or poor soldering, can try to reball baseband CPU to have a try.
Another situation: LDO3 short
It might be transceiver IC or the relative RF Amplifier IC with problem, can replace the transceiver directly if find LDO3 short.
2. SoC short
For the drop-damaged phone, the CPU upper layer (SoC) is easy to get shorted. We can measure the diode values of capacitor C1874 and C1823 (Qualcomm version) to confirm.
3. Inductors Around CPU poor soldering
Normally, for the drop damaged iPhone 7 cause Apple Logo restart, there’s a high chance it’s caused by the inductors around CPU psuedo soldering. We can use multimeter to check.
4. Audio IC inner rail broken
The most common issue for iPhone 7, which we called Apple’s gift for repair technicians.
Only if your soldering skill is good enough, you can jump wire and easily to fix this kind of issues.

5. Wi-Fi signal unstable
For the drop damaged phone, Wi-Fi signal may not stable.
It’s caused by the Wi-Fi module poor soldering or some pads missing, repair solution is replace the Wi-Fi module or remove the Wi-Fi module to fix the missing pads.
6. No vibration or no sound issue
There is a high chance it’s caused by the Audio/Arc amplifer IC get damaged, or the I2S bus with problem
Based on the defect phenomenon, we can go to the Amplifier IC U3301/U3402/U3502 directly.
7. Apple LOGO restart
The main possible reasons
- Parts like front camera flex cable, dock flex cable, power flex cable damage
- Baseband short
- Audio circuit inner rail broken (boot current can reach around 1A)
- Inductors around CPU poor soldering (restart once into the system)
- Battery data (enter into system, then restart after using around 2 minutes)
- Battery connector poor connetion. Can replace another new battery connector or use tweezer to pull out the battery data detect pin slightly to have a try.
Tips:
The improper disassemble phone can also cause restart issue. The most common case is screw damage the resistor R4710, pay attention to the small components when do the assemble and disassemble, do not use the wrong type screw.
