Malfunction Phenomenon
iPhone 7 Plus Rear Camera Not Working
Trouble Shooting
Take out the motherboard and measured the diode value of rear camera connectors J4501 and J3001.
All the diode values we measured were normal.
Then we turned on the phone and the camera app to measure the voltage of the rear camera on C2506, C2527, C2507, and L2504. The measured value was 1.2V, 3.7V, 3.0V and 1.8V, all the values were normal.
Continue to measure the voltage on C4817, the value was 0V, which was abnormal, the normal value should be around 1.8V. R4808 is the pull-up resistor, if it’s broken, the power PP1V8 will be abnormal, and the I2C_ISP_UT_SCL signal couldn’t be transferred out, so the camera can not work.
Replace the R4808 with a new one, assembled and tested again, the problem was resolved.
Repair tips sharing
- For rear camera issues, follow the root cause searching sequence of cosmetic and accessories first.
- Then measure the relevant connector diode values.
- After that, if the issue is still unresolved, check the schematic or block diagram to see the related power supply ICs. Get the IC removed / replaced
