Xiaomi Mi A2 No Charging Issue Repair

Defect Phenomenon

Today let’s see the Xiaomi Mi A2 no charging issue repair process.

Received a Xiaomi Mi A2 (also known as Mi 6X. Relased on 2018, July.) with charging issue.

And the left down corner with crack damage, phone might get drop damaged.

The defect phenomenon is no any charging current when connected with current meter.

Troubleshooting 

Try to test with below methods, the defect remains the same

• change another charging cable/ adapter to charge
• change another battery to charge
• change the dock flex cable to charge

So the defect must be caused by the motherboard.

Let’s disassmble the phone and check the motherboard.

But before the normal repair process, we can also check some previous repair cases.

After checking the repair records. We find a similar case which is also no any charge current, and the root cause is inductor L607 get damaged.

Checked the Refox bitmap, L607 is under the shiedling cover.

Repair Process

Check the location of the inductor, it’s under the shielding cover. Since the phone get drop damaged, we should remove the shileding covers anyway. So let’s do it, to remove the shielding cover directly.

After that, check all the components on the motherboard under shiedling cover caredully.

And we can see the L607 indeed get damaged.

Then get it replaced with a new one and test again.

The charging function back to normal, and all the other functions work well.

Summary

This might be the common issue for this model.

As we can see, L607 is on the corner of the shielding cover and, so might be the structure design reason. It’s get damaged easily.

Sometimes, repair exprience is also very valuable and can save a lot of repair time.
