The screen is the most popular and top selling products in the repair market, and therefore, the quality varies. A stable supply chain is difficult to seek. Many suppliers provide clients with AA Grade Screens(mixed original and compatible materials and assembled by third-party factory) or S+ Grade Screens(original materials assembled by third-party factory) and pretend these are OEM Refurb Screens(glass-only replaced). What you bought is not what you think. Most customers can’t tell the difference from appearance or performance except a few experienced experts. REWA has summarized an effective way today to distinguish these screens for your reference.
FPC Area
OEM Refurb – the originally sealed glue is perfect in uniformity and brightness. It stays still after refurbishing and glitters at different angles.
S+ Grade – the same as OEM Refurb
AA Grade – the glue applied on the seam between the FPC on the back side and LCD is uneven and dark. Some even feature naked seam.
Bonding Area
OEM Refurb – the bonding area has not been cleaned thoroughly. There might be protective glue residue due to refurbishing or a thin and even layer of protective blue glue on the bonding area.
S+ Grade – OCA glue laminated with no glue residue.
AA Grade – the bonding area has been cleaned thoroughly before bonding. There is an uneven layer of protective blue glue left on the bonding area after the bonding process.
Conductive Silver Paste
OEM Refurb – the top two corners(left/right) are applied with glue to protect the conductive silver paste from oxidization.
S+ Grade – no glue applied on the two corners.
AA Grade – no glue applied on the two corners.
Backlight Solder Joints
OEM Refurb – the backlight solder joints most OEM Refurb screens are soldered by the original factory. They are perfect in uniformity, plumpness and cleanliness.
S+ Grade – the backlight solder joints are soldered by the 3rd-Party factory. They are poor in uniformity and cleanliness. It can also be clearly seen that the backlight has been replaced.
AA Grade – the backlight solder joints are soldered by the 3rd-Party factory. They are poor in uniformity and cleanliness. It can also be clearly seen that the backlight has been replaced.
We kindly suggest you combine all these points together to distinguish different quality grade screens. It’s pretty difficult to tell the difference based on one or two points. These screens perform almost the same in daily use. While OEM refurb screens are more stable and feature a low RMA rate. S+ Grade screens function stably. Touch and display of AA screens are not stable after a period of use together with a relatively high RMA rate.
